My experience has been that the guardrails go in and out. Mid-December, I couldn't do anything anymore. Then around Christmas, prompts were working again (felt like a little Christmas gift). Was having difficulties first week of the year, then all of a sudden, last week, it was the easiest it had ever been getting pervy prompts to go through. So while it's bad right now, I have a feeling it will loosen up in the near future.

The thing you have to remember about these tech companies: they have zero morals and believe in nothing. So if people are using Gemini less (I'm certainly doing significantly less prompts this week compared to last, you all will be too, now imagine this in a large scale), they will always panic and adjust things to get prompts back up, which will probably mean loosening the guardrails again. Feel like this will be the push/pull of all these AI image generators. Try to resist perverted prompts until rolling things back as they realize it's the bulk of their usage and repeat.
