I think they use the term in here a lot because he was (officially) with her when she turned 18, but based on their story, it sounds like they're just saying that for legal purposes. At least that's what I gather from these posts.

Uh... "Women?" She was an underage teenage girl and I believe he was in his mid 20s. If some man who graduated college came over your house and started chatting up your 9th grade daughter then I assume you'd have a problem with it.

yeah, I think she was 16 or 17 and he is at least 12 years older than her - so late twenties at best.
